Cullman County deputies have arrested and charged an 19 year old Vinemont man with arson.
According to deputies, 19 year old Jeremy West set his neighbor's home on fire last month to cover up a burglary.
The fire broke out on County Road 1437 on November 15th. No one was home at the time of the fire, but the homeowner soon realized that several valuables were not in the rubble. Fire marshals soon ruled the fire arson, saying it started in multiple locations, with an accelerant.
Investigators were clued into the scheme when rare firearms that were stolen from the house turned up at a flea market in Lacon. A vendor asked where the guns came from, didn't feel comfortable with the answer, and called police.
West is being held on $70,000 bond, but he won't be free any time soon. His bond was revoked after it was learned that West was free on bond at the time of the crime. He was arrested in March and charged with attempted murder after a slashing a friend's throat.
