ARAB, AL (WAFF) -
Police in Arab are working to find out what happened when a teenage driver hit and killed another teen. They want to know if it was an accident or if recklessness was involved in this weekend's crash that killed the 16-year-old.
Brady Speegle, 16, was killed around 2 a.m. Saturday after he was hit by a vehicle and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident happened along Fairview Drive Northeast.
Arab Police Chief Ed Ralston said several people were riding together in a car. At some point, the victim got out of the car and began walking.
The 17-year-old female driver then made a loop around the road and struck Brady in the roadway.
Ralston said the occupants in the car then drove the victim to the hospital and police were notified.
He said investigators are working the case and they are in contact with the district attorney's office.
Was alcohol a factor? Ralston said blood samples have been taken from the driver and are awaiting those results.
Meanwhile, Arab Heritage Funeral Home is handling Brady's burial, but arrangements are not yet complete.
