Mehryar (Ray) Taban, MD, FACS, presents powerful technique at the 2012 American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Conference in Chicago.
Beverly Hills, CA (PRWEB) December 03, 2012
Dr. Mehryar (Ray) Taban is one of the few triple board certified surgeons who is also a member of the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ASOPRS). He has made it his mission to not only give his patients the best and most natural looking results, but to contribute to the medical field by sharing his techniques and educating others.
This year’s ASOPRS Conference, held in Chicago on November 13, was centered around perspective, passion, and progress, which was very fitting for Dr. Mehryar (Ray) Taban's lecture topics. During the ASOPRS Conference, Dr. Taban presented on "Blepharoptosis surgery in multioperated eyelid using full-thickness eyelid resection -- a powerful technique." This talk dealt with a common reconstructive eyelid (not orbital) surgery called revisional ptosis, also known as revisional droopy eyelid surgery. Ptosis can be caused by aging and trauma, among other conditions leaving the eyelids with a sleepy or tired look.
Upper eyelid ptosis is one of the most unpredictable operations. However, it has up to 25% reoperation rate. Hence, revisional ptosis surgery is that much more difficult and unpredictable. Dr. Taban shared his report at the conference, stating that a preexisting scar can actually be used to the surgeon’s advantage during the procedure and concluded that “full-thickness upper eyelid resection is a powerful, predictable technique for upper eyelid ptosis surgery in eyelids with full-thickness scar, with much more predictable results."
Dr. Taban also presented on "Temporal cheek rotational flap for lower eyelid reconstruction" and "Septoplasty during dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR)" at the conference.
Mehryar (Ray) Taban, MD, FACS, is a Santa Barbara and Beverly Hills oculoplastic surgeon who is committed to his patient’s progress and results. He offers an array of reconstructive and cosmetic procedures, with a focus on the face in general and the eyes in particular. He has had extensive training, and is triple board-certified by the American Society of Oculofacial plastic surgery. Due to Dr. Mehryar (Ray) Taban's expertise, he is often called upon to help other physicians with their complex cases, and frequently publishes articles and lectures to physicians around the country.
