MADISON, AL (WAFF) -
A valley teen is hoping to make a difference in his community, and earn a badge at the same time.
13-year-old Adler Salem teamed up with LifeSouth and held a blood drive for his eagle scout project Saturday.
Dozens stopped by to donate blood in front of the Target Shopping Center in Madison.
Salem said the blood drive is way for him to help the community and save lives. He said some of his own family members are in need of blood transfusions.
"I'm excited because the community always helps me and so I wanted to help them back," said Salem.
Salem's goal was to collect 100 pints of blood, which can help save up to 300 lives. So far he has collected 70 pints but hopes to collect more Sunday and later this week.
