ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -
Athens Police are investigating a homicide at the Elmwood Apartments on Elm Street.
Police responded to a call just before 7 p.m. and found the body of 32-year-old Sharon Wellington.
Officers said friends of Wellington found her body after they grew concerned when they hadn't seen her for several days.
The cause of the death is under investigation, but it is being ruled a homicide.
Wellington's body has been sent to the forensic lab for an autopsy.
