TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -
The University of Alabama is still paying former president Guy Bailey $535,000 a year even though he resigned after just two months on the job.
Bailey cited his wife's health as the reason for his suddenly resigning in late October. University spokeswoman Kelee Reinhart says that Bailey remains on the university payroll at full presidential pay and that he is technically "on leave" through next August.
At that point, he has the option to take a job as an English professor. Bailey was replaced as president by Dr. Judy Bonner, who is the first female to hold the position.
