JACKSON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A Jackson County man charged with murdering his girlfriend in 2009 is now on trial.

Jurors had the chance to hear taped testimony from Michael Anthony Bunch on Tuesday who spoke with investigators shortly after Lisa Harper went missing.

Jurors' eyes stayed glued to the monitor as they heard Michael Bunch speaking to investigators while Harper was missing, but who was found dead a few days later.

Chewing gum, Michael Bunch watched the same screen as jurors did of him giving a statement to police just a short time after his girlfriend, Lisa Harper, went missing in December 2009.

Her body was later discovered just over the Marshall County line a few days later following a search. Bunch told investigators after he, Lisa and a friend returned from a local bar watching a football game, they got into an argument and Lisa left the home on foot.

Later, Bunch told the investigator he went to look for her and passed her along Highway 79. When he went back, she was gone and he assumed she caught a ride.

When Harper's body was found, an investigator testified he sought to have forensics take a second look at the car both were riding in where possible blood stains were found.

Testimony is set to resume on Wednesday.
