ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -
Athens police have identified the suspect involved in a weekend gas station robbery.
They obtained a warrant on John Robert Johnson III for the Sunday morning robbery of the Raceway on Highway 72.
Police said just before 4:30 a.m., the man entered the Raceway on US 72 and demanded money.
He told the clerk he had a pistol, but the clerk said he never saw it.
The offender left the store with an undisclosed amount of money and headed west.
Investigators said Johnson has lived in Huntsville and Athens. They are asking anyone with information on Johnson to call the Athens Police Department at 256-233-8700.
