ROSELAND, LA (WAFB) -
Authorities
said a man accused of driving wildly on the road and then refusing to stop when
they tried to pull him over was arrested after a short chase.
The
Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office said Michael Carter, 48, of Amite was booked
into the parish prison Saturday.
He is
charged with resisting arrest by flight, possession of CDS II and driving with
a suspended license.
Sheriff Daniel
Edwards reported deputies spotted a grey Ford truck pulling what looked like a
camper on Hayden Lane in Roseland.
They said
the truck was moving erratically on the roadway.
They added
when they tried to pull over the pickup the driver got more aggressive and
headed toward their patrol unit.
TPSO said after
a quick pursuit, Carter stopped the truck at the end of Perry Lane and he was
arrested.
Investigators
said they found about a handful worth of illegal narcotics in his pocket.
