Law
enforcement agencies from Belgium, Denmark, France, Romania and the UK, along
with the European Police Office (EUROPOL) investigated cases overseas.
Federal
officials said the sites were set up to dupe customers into buying fake goods
as the holiday shopping season gets under way.
Investigators
also identified PayPal accounts used by those websites. The feds said more than
$175,000 was collected through those accounts.
Those
PayPal accounts are being targeted for seizure by agents.
Cyber
Monday is considered the biggest online shopping day of the year, with many
companies offering special deals to those who choose to buy gifts through the
web instead of going into stores.
