'Tis the season. A tree grown in North Carolina will deck the halls of the White House this Christmas season.

This year's official tree arrived Friday morning with all the traditional fanfare atop a horse drawn carriage with "O Christmas Tree" playing in the background.

The 19 foot Frasier Fir was chosen in early October from a prize winning Christmas tree farm in the North Carolina mountains and was recently harvested for its journey from Ashe County to Washington.

First Lady Michelle Obama, along with daughters, Sasha and Malia, welcomed the tree to the White House.

Farm owners Rusty and Beau Estes are this year's grand champion winners from the National Christmas Tree Association which has provided the White House tree each year since 1966.

The tree will be decorated and displayed throughout the holiday season in the Blue Room of the White House.

David: Showers and storms ongoing across the Valley

    Saturday, March 25 2017 5:50 PM EDT2017-03-25 21:50:37 GMT

Showers and storms will be ongoing across the Valley this evening. The most widespread rain will be over northeastern AL, but additional scattered storms will track into the Shoals from the west. That round of stormy weather will head east with time and should be out of the Valley after midnight. The threat for severe storms is low, but a few strong storms are possible.
