BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -
A statue of Jesus reported missing from a monument business near a cemetery has been found.
Shelly Roy with Roselawn Monuments, which is directly across the street from Roselawn Cemetery in Baton Rouge, said the statue was discovered near a Baton Rouge nightclub early Thursday morning.
Roy said a detective with the Baton Rouge Police Department told him the stolen Sacred Heart of Jesus statue was found on Highland Road next to a dumpster across from Club Splash around 2:30 a.m.
He added the statue didn't appear to be damaged.
Police said the Italian Carrera marble piece was stolen last weekend.
It had been at the location on North Street since the 1950s before someone removed it.
The statue is 4'6" tall and weighs about 500 pounds.
