HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
The 19th Annual Turkey Trot at The University of Alabama in Huntsville kicked off Thursday morning.
The local tradition has continuously grown, this year hosting over 1,500 runners from 27 states and nearly 100 cities across the country.
The 5k race, just over three miles in distance, kicked off at 8 a.m. with participants dressing in turkey costumes and many others wearing colorful head dresses.
The 19th annual Turkey Trot at The University of Alabama in Huntsville kicked off Thursday morning.
Some runners dressed up in turkey costumes to take part in the run.
