MORGAN CITY, AL (WAFF) -

Six were injured and sent to the hospital after a wreck on Highway 231 near Apple Grove Road in Morgan County.

The crash between an SUV and a mini van happened around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, north of Morgan City. One of the vehicles rolled off the road.

19-year-old Jordyn Nielsen, 3-year-old Kaitlyn Reid, 2-month-old Brylie Nielsen of Laceys Spring and 46-year-old Leah Suzanne Keith, 76-year-old Wiley Osborne and 22-year-old Lyndsey Keith were all taken to the hospital.

Kaitlyn later died at Huntsville Hospital.

Highway 231 northbound was shut down for at least 30 minutes while crews worked the scene. Motorists were diverted onto Kennamer Road, just before the wreck site.

Traffic was backed up for hours following the accident.

State Troopers and volunteers helped work the wreck.

The cause of the wreck is still under investigation but Troopers said everyone was wearing a seatbelt.
