Fultondale's ArDarius Stewart

MONTGOMERYSenior quarterback ArDarius Stewart has had his share of outstanding performances during his prep career at Fultondale. Last week, he had perhaps his best effort ever as the Wildcats knocked off previously undefeated Fyffe 49-28 to advance to the third round of the AHSAA Class 2A state football playoffs.
Stewart had 28 rushing attempts for 351 yards and seven touchdowns – scoring on runs of 21, 30, 5, 6, 79 and 42 yards. The Alabama verbal commitment also completed 3-of-4 passes for 20 more yards and had a 3-yard pass to his brother, Jared Stewart, for a two-point conversion.  Coach Keith Register's standout now has accounted for 50 touchdowns this season with 35 rushing, 11 passing, two receiving and two on kick returns.
The Wildcats (10-2) Hve had little time to savor the victory or Stewart's performance. Fultondale hosts unbeaten Tanner (11-0) Friday night.
Stewart edged out Hubbertville running back Aaron Dillard, Brooks quarterback Skyler Beck and Oneonta receiver Alvin Scott to headline this week's Prep Spotlight for Week 12.
Dillard helped Hubbertville achieve a milestone for their longtime head coach Lamar Harris, who is in his 36th season. Dillard rushed for 244 yards on 17 carries and scored five touchdowns as the Lions defeated Spring Garden 42-18 in the Class 1A playoffs. Hubbertville, which will play at defending state champion Marion County Friday, advanced to the third round for the first time in Harris' tenure as head coach. Dillard boosted his season totals to 2,253 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns.
