Huntsville's first public outdoor ice skating rink opens Wednesday in Big Spring Park.
A ribbon cutting ceremony to launch Skating in the Park will be held Wednesday, November 21 at 10 a.m. directly behind the Huntsville Museum of Art.
Skating in the Park will be open for public skating through January 5. The operating hours are Monday through Thursday: noon to 10 p.m., Friday: noon to 12 a.m., Saturday: 10 a.m. to 12 a.m., and Sunday: noon to 8 p.m.
Admission is $10 per person to skate and $3 to rent skates. Visitors may also use their own ice skates. Groups of 15 or more people will receive a $2 discount, paying $8 per person.
Foundation Board of the Huntsville Museum of Art established the ice skating rink for this holiday season to help raise funds for the museum and to provide the community with a new, family-friendly outdoor activity.
