HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Tide and Tiger fans got a big treat at Challenger Elementary on Friday.
Aubie and Big Al visited the school to congratulate kids on winning a reading contest.
Those who read six books by October 19th received an award.
The mascots cheered on every student.
And the kids cheered for Aubie and Big Al right back.
Challenger Elementary's librarian, Kimberly Loomis, said the contest encourages students to read.
"It's a great way for them to learn to love to read and make it something that they will do lifelong," said Loomis.
The Alabama Education Association sponsors the statewide event.
Prizes in the state challenge include cash and tickets to the Iron Bowl.
