TN murder suspect pleads not guilty

A man charged with the brutal rape and murder of a Tennessee nursing student pleaded not guilty Friday.

Donnie Jones pleaded not guilty before a Franklin County judge.

Megan Sharpton's burned body was found on the side of the road near Awalt Bridge in Franklin County, Tennessee.

Jones was arrested in September and indicted in November on charges of rape, kidnapping and murder.

Jones remains in the custody of the Franklin County Jail. He has not bonded out.

Jones' next court date will be January 16, 2013.
