HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
On Thursday, Huntsville Utilities announced they would reduce rates for all natural gas customers.
The rate will be lowered by 10.2 percent from $9.70 to $8.71 per 1000 cubic feet for residential customers and by 10.1 percent from $10.05 to $9.03 per 1000 cubic feet for small commercial gas customers. Large commercial customers and industrial customers will see 12 percent rate reductions.
Compared to last winter, Huntsville Utilities said the average residential customer could see their bill reduced by nearly $10 a month from December to February.
Huntsville Utilities can offer the decrease due to the increase in supply of natural gas over the last few years.
The new rates will be effective beginning December 1 with meter readings.
