HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Huntsville Hospital is gearing up to make some changes.

Since they're in the business of getting people well, they decided why not start with making the campus smoke- free?

The hospital has spent an entire year promoting going smoke free, and it's finally going to happen February 1, 2013.

Huntsville Hospital currently has two designated outdoor smoking areas on campus, but they'll soon turn into non-smoking seating areas.

Staff, patients, and visitors will not be able to light up on hospital property.

Officials said if they're in the field of promoting health, going smoke-free goes with it.

"If you have an environment where you are trying to provide as much health care and promoting good health, we certainly want to provide where you're not walking through areas that are smoking. Your caregivers are not smelling of smoke when they are caring for you," said Human Resources VP Andrea Rosler.

As a part of the Great American Smoke-Out on November 15th, the hospital will join in on getting as many pledges from employees to stop smoking as possible.
