MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
A Madison County health inspector reported two critical violations at the Star Supermarket's deli on Bailey Cove Road in Huntsville and handed them an 84.
Both critical items involved temperature issues. The inspector reported ready-to-serve fried chicken at 112 degrees and greens at 121 degrees. That's well below the minimum 135 degree temperature required to prevent bacterial growth in hot-holding foods.
The maximum temperature required by the health department to prevent bacteria in cold-holding foods is 41 degrees. The inspector reports discovering turkey and ham on the table where workers make salads more than ten degrees above that threshold.
Bubba Ritos in Guntersville scored a 94 with the Marshall County Health Department during a reinspection. The Mexican restaurant had scored a 79 during their previous inspection.
Martin's Market in Arab rose from a 69 to an 85 during their reinspection.
