COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
A Colbert County man has been taken into custody for questioning in his brother's shooting.
Investigators said two brothers got into a fight around 1 p.m. Tuesday at a home on the corner of Owens Lane and Buddy Durham Road near the Alabama/Mississippi state line.
A woman tried to intervene, and that's when one brother shot the other brother with a handgun at least three times. The victim, 63-year-old Steve Murphy, was airlifted to Tupelo Medical Center where he had surgery.
Murphy is in ICU in serious condition.
The woman was grazed by a bullet on the hip, but refused care.
The suspect is in custody, and the decision on whether charges will be pressed will be made on Wednesday.
