DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

A burglar is on the loose in DeKalb County.

Multiple homes near one county road have been targeted.

Sheriff Jimmy Harris said they will do all they can to stop the burglaries.

They have made 11 arrests for drugs and theft in the last week but Harris knows not everyone has been arrested.

He said they've also increased the number of unmarked patrols in the hopes of catching them.

Residents along County Road 155 just outside of Higdon say half a dozen or so of their fellow neighbors have had their homes broken into in the last couple of weeks.

Residents are finding their doors broken and homes ransacked.

For the most part, jewelry and guns are the primary target for these thieves.

One resident said the vehicle description is a faded red extended cab Toyota or Nissan pickup truck with a pinstripe.

The situation is very unnerving, especially for one young couple and their young child.

"No, you never think this will happen to you.  We got here just a month ago - just moved here, so it's kind of unsettling to think that we've moved to a place like this," said burglary victim Brittany Crisp.

If anyone sees a vehicle fitting the description of the pickup truck, contact the DeKalb County Sheriff's Department.
