DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -

A family of American heroes is celebrating America's veterans and their own survival.

The five Miller brothers of Decatur all went to Vietnam.

James, John, and Thomas all enlisted in the Marines.

Their brothers Willie and Leo were drafted into the Army.

For six years during the Vietnam War, at least one of them was in Vietnam the whole time.

Only one of them, John, was wounded and on Monday, all five got a special Veterans Day salute in Decatur.

"Because freedom is not free.  Someone had to die in order for us to be free.  In the military today, they still got that same pride.  Most of the military today is volunteer, but they still have that same pride that they're trying to keep America free," said James Miller.

Between them, the Miller brothers accumulated 30 medals in their years of military service.
