FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -
The University of North Alabama held their own event to honor veterans.
The rain shook things up a bit on campus Monday morning, but it didn't stop the school from honoring veterans.
Students, staff, and members of the community filled the performance center.
Florence mayor and veteran Mickey Haddock delivered an emotional message of thanks to veterans.
The Pride of Dixie band and the university's choir performed the songs of the armed forces, recognizing all the veterans in attendance.
The crowd broke out in cheers when veterans stood for the song of their respected branch.
Several veterans said Veterans Day reaffirms their decision to serve and protect their country.
The Veterans Day ceremony was co-sponsored by the student government association and UNA's military and veteran alliance.
