COLBERT COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
The United Steelworkers of America Local 200 and
Wise Alloys still have not agreed upon a contract.
The USA rejected a new five-year
contract Thursday. The contract was the second proposal in a week.
The new offer was tentatively agreed
upon by the Union Bargaining Committee and recommended favorably to the USA.
The executive vice president of Wise
Alloys, Wes Oberholzer, said the contract provided pay and benefit
improvements, good jobs with good working conditions, and it compares favorably
with the proposals that have been ratified earlier.
He said they are disappointed the
contract was rejected and that it was their best offer.
