OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) - Lee County authorities are seeking the owners of a rabid dog that bit an employee at a veterinarian clinic.
Lee County rabies officer Buddy Lee told the Opelika-Auburn News (http://bit.ly/YMDIkK) that the Chow mix was dropped off anonymously Saturday night at Countryside Veterinary Clinic. The dog was left in a fenced kennel. The dog later bit a clinic technician.
The dog was euthanized and tested for rabies. The test was positive. Lee said all clinic employees exposed to the dog are taking post-exposure treatment for rabies. He said the owners of the dog have also been exposed and need to be treated. He said the owners could develop rabies if they were bitten and not treated.
