MOBILE, AL -
Airbus Americas posted the first job opening for its Mobile, Alabama-base manufacturing plant facility Thursday afternoon. The move marks the latest step in establishing the A320 Family assembly line in the United States.
In conjunction with AIDT, the company's Alabama-based recruiting partner, Airbus says it is now seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Director of Human Resources. The chosen candidate will be announced in early 2013.
The Director-HR will be fully responsible for the day-to-day HR operations at the facility once the assembly line is operational, but during the project phase of the assembly line, they will be the principal focal point for all HR-project related activities.
"From the day we announced our intent to build an assembly line in Mobile, Alabama, we've been inundated with requests for information about how to work there," explained Allan McArtor, Chairman of Airbus Americas. "I'm so pleased to say we're beginning the process with this first job posting. It's just one more significant step towards the reality of a U.S.-based Airbus manufacturing site."
Construction on the assembly line is scheduled to being in the summer of 2013 with aircraft assembly expected by 2015. The first delivery of a plane from the Mobile facility is set for 2016 with production of approximately 40 or 50 aircraft per year by 2018.
