Detroit Lions defensive lineman Nick FairleyMOBILE, Ala. (AP) - Detroit Lions defensive lineman Nick Fairley did not appear in a Mobile courtroom Thursday for his arraignment on drunken driving and reckless driving charges.
Fairley instead waived his court appearance.
The former Auburn University star's lawyer told al.com that he expects the case to be heard in January. The attorney did not immediately return phone messages left by The Associated Press.
Fairley hopes to enter a pre-trial diversion program, which could lead to the charges being dismissed.
Fairley was arrested in May after state troopers said he was driving at about 100 mph and did not stop for police.
Fairley also faces a trial in Mobile Municipal Court on Nov. 27 on a second-degree possession of marijuana charge. Harrell told al.com he hopes that charge will be dismissed.
