FLORENCE, AL (WAFF) -
A Florence mother was charged after police said two of her children fell out of a car near a busy intersection.
Police said Kimberly Simbeck was turning onto Hermitage Drive from Helton when the door came open and her two-year-old twins fell out.
An officer witnessed the incident and said cars had to slam on their brakes to keep from running over the children.
A three-year-old was also riding in the front seat but was not injured.
The children suffered scratches and were treated at the scene.
Officials said the back seat was loaded with bags that covered the car seats.
Simbeck was charged with reckless endangerment and released on $1,000 bond.
The children were released to DHR custody.
