Work could start next spring on the new I-565 interchange at County Line Road.
Alabama Department of Transportation officials discussed the project with Madison City leaders and first responders Wednesday afternoon.
The project is expected to cost about $28 million.
Plans are still being finalized for the work, including negotiating purchases for right of way, but the project is expected to be completed by late 2014.
Work could start next spring on the new I-565 interchange at County Line Road.
