KILLEN, AL (WAFF) -
The police chief of Killen has been fired, according to Mayor Tim Tubbs.
Tubbs said the city council decided Monday night not to keep Police Chief Mark Parker, effective immediately.
Each new council and administration member is given the option to keep or dismiss the clerk and police chief at the start of new office. They chose to keep the clerk and let the chief go.
No reason was given for his dismissal.
Officer Brian Hammond has been named interim chief until further notice.
