Wreck leaves 1 injured and fire hydrant damaged

A fire hydrant shoots out water after it was damaged in a 2 vehicle wreck. A fire hydrant shoots out water after it was damaged in a 2 vehicle wreck.

A man is recovering in the hospital after a two vehicle wreck. Crews are working to repair a fire hydrant that was damaged in the accident.

Around 11:00 p.m. Monday a dark colored car and a white truck collided on Winchester Road between Shields Road and Moores Mill Road in Madison County. The truck ran over the fire hydrant. Water started shooting out of it.

HEMSI took a man to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Madison County deputies blocked off Winchester Road to clear the scene. It has since reopened.

State troopers are investigating the accident.

    A ground search ensued that lasted about four hours and covered approximately six miles, ending a few hundred yards east of Hays Mill Road where the suspects were caught in a hunting stand/shoot house.
