MADISON COUNTY (WAFF) -

A man is recovering in the hospital after a two vehicle wreck. Crews are working to repair a fire hydrant that was damaged in the accident.

Around 11:00 p.m. Monday a dark colored car and a white truck collided on Winchester Road between Shields Road and Moores Mill Road in Madison County. The truck ran over the fire hydrant. Water started shooting out of it.

HEMSI took a man to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Madison County deputies blocked off Winchester Road to clear the scene. It has since reopened.

State troopers are investigating the accident.
