CHEROKEE, AL (WAFF) -
The mayor of Cherokee said safety measures were taken after a student made a threat about Cherokee High School.
Mayor Chuck Lansdell said he was notified by a parent after Thursday night's football game that a student had made a threat to the school.
He said they do not take threats lightly and the police chief and sheriff were notified.
Lansdell said safety measures were taken to ensure students safety this morning and the rest of the school day.
