FRANKLIN COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - Fifteen people were injured when a Franklin County school bus from Vina High School overturned on Overton Farm Road at Highway 172 in Hodges.
State Trooper Curtis Summerville said around 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, Channing Haithcock, 20, of Vina, was driving his Chevrolet Silverado when he collided with the bus, causing it to turn over on its side.
According to Summerville, 29 children were on the bus at the time of the wreck.
The bus driver, 58-year-old Rebecca Gober, of Vina, helped the students escape through the roof.
Two helicopters were dispatched to the scene and three fire departments responded, along with sheriff's deputies.
Haithcock was airlifted to Tupelo Regional Medical Center in Mississippi. Gober was not injured.
Thirteen people were transported to area hospitals, parents took seven students to the hospital. Two of the patients were airlifted to Huntsville Hospital and Tupelo.
All the students have been treated and released. Haithcock remains in the hospital.
Troopers said the investigation is ongoing.
