HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Halloween night is a night for trick or treating for some, but others are remembering tragedy.
Family and friends held a candlelight vigil to remember the life lost at the Richard Showers Center on Halloween 2011.
Balloons, a pumpkin, and candles marked the spot where 20-year-old Christopher Collier was shot and killed.
That shooting also injured then 17-year-old Martez Jones. He was shot in the leg.
Jones has since recovered and was at the vigil tonight.
About 30 to 40 people showed up in the cold to remember Collier. His Stepdad, Kenneth White, said life has been hard without him.
"His love is still here," he said. "He'll always be here in our hearts. It's wrong the person took him from us, but it's something we have to deal with and keep going on."
Collier leaves behind a son that White is raising.
The suspects in the Collier case will go to trial next year.
Henry Varise and Sheldon Henry are both charged with murder in this case.
Both of their trials are set to begin on January 7.
