HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

There are several places said to be visited by spirits in North Alabama.

Several locations in lay claim to similar stories in places called Cry Baby Hollow.

"Many years back, the old wives tales of a baby having lost its life in these Wheeler Flats here.  And late in the night in the quietness, people have said that they hear an infant crying," said longtime Morgan County resident, Mike Corley.

It was crying, so the story goes, after being separated from its mother.

According to legend, the mom lost control of her car on the roadway and went off a bridge, which has no side rails, into the murky depths. The mom survived; baby did not.

We got some chills up the spine in Mount Hope.   Kim Hood, executive director of the local chamber, went exploring with us to see what we could scare up!

"You are looking at Gravity Hill, or better known to many people here as 'Henry Hill.'  And supposedly the story is that Henry was hit by a car.  There's red paint in the road that shows that.  And what you're going to do is go to that spot. Come to a complete stop, and you're going to put the vehicle in neutral," said Hood.

What happened next was shocking.

"And we will climb to the top of the hill, and we will get faster as we go," Hood said. "The story is, Henry is pushing us up the hill, and he's picking up speed; he's pushing harder."

And, yes, we tried it a couple of more times - just to make sure it wasn't a fluke.

The last stop of our haunted road trip took us to Huntsville.

Jacquelyn Proctor Reeves is an authority on local haunts.

"This area is known as the Dead Children's Playground.  There are a lot of urban legends about this area," she said. "It's been known for years and years as a place where the ghosts of children came to play or the ghosts of children may be buried here."

After some research, she said there is no evidence of bodies buried under the playground, but it is next to Maple Hill Cemetery.

"But we do know that the swings move by themselves and a lot of people come here and hear the voices of children laughing," said Reeves.

This place is one of several people say is haunted in North Alabama.  It's just another stop along the way in Bobby's Haunted Bama.
