HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -
Huntsville Police have increased patrols in neighborhoods for families celebrating Halloween.
Extra patrols will be out in west precincts from 5 to 7 p.m. and north and south precincts from 5 to 8 p.m.
Police recommend children be accompanied by an adult at all times.
They also advise being safe on the streets by crossing only at corners or marked crosswalks; never crossing the street between parked vehicles, watch out for cars backing or turning, wear bright colored clothing and use a flashlight.
Police also advise drivers to keep an eye out for children.
Parents should discuss a route with children and inspect all candy before opening it.
