TUSCUMBIA, AL (WAFF) -
State Troopers responded to a fatal accident in Colbert County Wednesday morning.
The accident happened just before 5 a.m. on Highway 72 at Highway 247 in Tuscumbia between a car and a log truck.
The coroner said that 32-year-old Shelia Warren of Cherokee was killed in the accident.
Her 21-month-old child was sitting in the back seat. They were injured and taken to Helen Keller Hospital. They have since been released.
The driver of the log truck, 39-year-old Richard Ford was not injured.
Troopers are working to determine the cause of the wreck but said driving while texting with an electronic device may have contributed to the crash.
