BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Gulf South Conference announced its 2012 All-GSC Women's Soccer Teams on Tuesday, and UAH featured six players that earned the recognition including the GSC Freshman of the Year Sydnie Fiocca.
Only West Florida placed more on the teams as UWF had eight overall honorees.
Fiocca has had a stunning debut season in Huntsville, scoring nine times and adding a pair of assists to sit second on the team in scoring with 20 points. Matching a program record, six of her goals have been game-winners – a number that has her tops in the league in the category. The St. Catharine's, Ontario, native is also in the top 10 in both goals and points.
For Gunnarsdottir, Jannah, and Reisman, it marks the second consecutive year that each have been on the all-conference teams.
Gunnarsdottir leads the league in saves while Blunt and Young have been key members of a defensive unit that has the Blue and White ranked fourth in the league in goals against average. From her forward position, Jannah also ranks in the top 10 in goals and points with nine and 21, respectively, and the midfielder Reisman is among the best in the GSC in assists.
West Florida goalkeeper Sarah Story was chosen as the Player of the Year while UWF's Joe Bartlinski was named the Coach of the Year.
