SHEFFIELD, AL (WAFF) -
Sheffield Police responded to a two-car accident at the intersection of South Jackson and South Montgomery.
Two cars collided just before 9 p.m. on Friday at the busy Shoals intersection.
At least two people had to be extracted from one of the vehicles.
Two people were taken to Helen Keller Hospital, and two were taken to Shoals Hospital - some with serious injuries. A baby involved in the accident was taken to a hospital, but it is unclear to which hospital the baby was taken.
Crews were called to have patients airlifted. However, due to weather, all surrounding helicopters had to decline.
Sheffield Police said state troopers assisted with the accident.
