DECATUR, AL (WAFF) -
Two sets of parents were arrested Tuesday night after police
said they were driving drunk with their children in the car.
Christopher Bumpus and Jennifer Anne Auen were arrested for
two separate incidents Tuesday.
Decatur Police said they responded to a domestic call at an
apartment at The Lodges. Bumpus allegedly kicked in his girlfriend's door and
drove off with the child in the car.
Police pulled the vehicle over and said the 8-month old
child was sitting unrestrained in the front seat. Officers said there was a car
seat in the back.
A breathalyzer test measured Bumpus' blood alcohol level at
.2.
In a separate incident, officers responded to a call of an
intoxicated driver at Burger King on the Beltline with a 5-year-old child standing up in the back of the vehicle, unrestrained.
Auen was stopped, and officers said her blood alcohol level
was .08, she had Xanax in the car and a revoked license.
Both parents were arrested.
Bumpus was charged with driving
under the influence, third-degree domestic violence harassment, attempting to
flee, reckless driving, reckless endangerment, sound ordinance violation and no
child restraint.
Auen was charged with driving under the
influence, no child restraint, driving in multiple lanes, driving while revoked
and illegal possession of prescription medication.
The children were released into the custody
of the other parents.
