HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The frantic phone calls began at 6 a.m. Monday morning.

Vincent Crutcher, 3, was the only one left alive in a Tennessee home after his mother, Chabreya Campbell, 22, his baby brother Rashad "Rico" Ragland, 16 months, and Amber McCaulley had all been murdered.

Family members said Vinnie told them he couldn't wake anybody up, so he called for help.

"A child calling, it's something wrong because he called everybody in his mom's phone," said godmother Crystal Kelly.

She got one of those calls from the terrified toddler, so she went straight to Campbell's home.

"The baby was in there hollering for me. He told me he was scared," Kelly said.

Child Psychologist Dr. Kenneth Sullivan said the experience could have lasting effects.

"Three years old is pretty much the beginning of what a fair amount of people can remember, and most people remember things for a while and then forget them later. This'll be harder to forget," Sullivan said.

Above all, Sullivan said Vinnie needs a lot of support.

"As much family and security that he could possibly have would be huge dividends," he said.  "He needs the environment he's in to be as stable and as calm and secure as the situation and as much as respect would allow.  There has to be grieving for the losses in the family."

Vinnie's maternal grandmother is currently trying to get custody of him while he is in child protective services.  The case is currently pending.
