A man accused of sexual assault will be on the November 6 ballot in Franklin County, and he will likely be elected.

Tharptown constable Ray Hill is seeking another term, and he's running unopposed.

Hill's case has been bound to a Marion county grand jury.

If Hill is indicted and later convicted of the sex crimes, it will then be up to the governor's office to decide whether or not to impeach him and appoint someone else.

Hill has served as Tharptown constable for the last 22 years.

Shortly after he announced his decision to seek re-election, Hill was arrested and accused of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old woman.

According to reports, Hill grabbed the woman's hand, pulled it into his car towards his genitals, and began kissing her.

The Franklin County District Attorney's Office and the county's judges have all recused themselves from the case due to a conflict of interest.

The case has been handed to Marion County.

Marion County officials said Hill had a preliminary hearing this summer, and the judge bound his case to a grand jury.

Officials said they have not received any further information on the panel's decision and because the election will take place before his trial, Hill is allowed to remain on the ballot - and he's running unopposed.
