GLENCOE, AL (WBRC) -
A local soldier who lost both of his legs at war still managed to stand tall at his old high school.
Yesterday was officially named, Josh Wetzel Day in Glencoe, Alabama. The army specialist received a standing ovation from high school and middle school students who turned out to hear him.
Wetzel spoke to the students about heroes, the soldiers he saw in all types of brave situations in Afghanistan.
Wetzel will return to Betheseda, Maryland on Sunday where he will continue outpatient care at Walter Reed Medical Center.
