HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

The issue at Pinnacle Schools and the problem with bullying came up during the Huntsville City School Board meeting on Thursday.

Several people voiced their concerns during the comment section of the board meeting.

Earlier in the meeting, the school board discussed a program to put in school to help prevent bullying.

A presentation was given on the program No Place for Hate.

The program has already been implemented at Whitesburg Middle School.

The No Place for Hate committee was created because teachers identified it as a need.

A counselor said the committee is encouraged to come up with ideas to help with the problem of bullying.

"That would help build community among the different students and the different groups within these particular schools. We want them to come together, the upper and lower campus, and be seen as one unit, one group that works well together and accepts each other," said counselor, Sandra Carr.

The committee also promotes activities like lessons on anti-bullying and diversity.
