ATHENS, AL (WAFF) -
The city of Athens was "pretty in pink" on Thursday.
It was Paint the Town Pink Day, a way to raise awareness and money in the fight against breast cancer.
City workers donned pink T-shirts, and so did the workers at Chik-fil-A on Highway 72.
The restaurant is raising money for the Pink Elephant Scholarship Fund. The money goes to the Athens-Limestone Hospital Foundation. The foundation uses the money to provide mammograms for women who can't afford one.
"They're donating part of their proceeds today. If you wear pink, say pink, or mention the Pink Elephant Mammogram Scholarship Fund, they'll donate part of their proceeds to that scholarship fund," said Holly Hollman, City of Athens spokesperson.
On Wednesday, the fire department presented Athens-Limestone Hospital with a $22,000 check - money raised by selling their breast cancer awareness T-shirts.
You can get one at the Chik-fil-A fundraiser, which runs through 8 p.m. Thursday night.
