GEORGIA -
A US Congressman is coming under fire after comments he made at a church in Georgia.
US Representative Paul Broun called the theory of evolution "lies from the pit of hell." He also said evolution and the Big Bang Theory were taught to keep people from understanding they need a Savior.
In the video posted on YouTube, Broun said he believes the Earth is 4,000 years old, while scientists say it is about 4.4 billion years old.
Critics have taken aim at these comments because Broun is a top ranking member of the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. A spokeswoman for the congressman said he was speaking off the record about his personal religious beliefs.
