DOUGLAS, AL (WAFF) -
Douglas High wants to fire suspended assistant football coach, Paul Pankey, but he's fighting back.
It's been nearly a month since Pankey was banned from campus, and school officials have not released why they want him terminated.
Pankey remains on leave with pay since his removal from Douglas High School.
He wants a due process hearing, and he'll get it in November.
He's served as the defensive coordinator for the Douglas Eagles the last few seasons. Before that he coached at Brindlee Mountain High School.
According to his school biography, Pankey has served as a coach for 16 years and as a teacher for 14. He also coached locally in Arab.
That due process hearing is set for November 13 at 4 p.m.
