LAWRENCE COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -
A former police officer, accused of running a stop sign and causing a fatal wreck, requested his trial be delayed.
The wreck happened in Lawrence County in 2010.
State troopers said Brandon Shane Mundy ran a stop sign on County Road 217.
His patrol car collided with a car driven by Gary Cox and his wife, Sandra, of Town Creek.
State troopers said Mundy was on his way to help with a funeral procession at the time of the wreck.
Mundy worked for North Courtland Police Department.
His trial was supposed to begin this week.
The judge's decision about the request for a continuance is unknown at this time.
